Why use Moxi?
Moxi provides bespoke financial tools tailored for freelancers. We provide you with one place to manage all your gigs effortlessly, no more juggling multiple apps and spreadsheets. The Moxi founding team have been part of the freelance and creative community, therefore we have a deep understanding of the financial needs of freelancers. We feel it's our mission to empower freelancers by improving their financial lives.
How do I sign up?
Download the Moxi app from the US App Store, and we'll get you setup in no time. Open the app and provide us with your US mobile number to get started.
To use our payment and gig management tools, you will need to link your bank to Moxi, using Plaid, which is secure and easy. Your banking credentials will be kept private, and never made accessible to us.
Moxi uses payment processor Stripe, which requires verifying the identity of our users to comply with U.S. federal “Know Your Customer” requirements to assist in the prevention of money laundering activities. You will need to provide us with a photo of your valid state driver’s license or ID card.
How much does it cost to use Moxi?
No subscriptions or commitment is required to sign up and use Moxi. Instead, for every payment made through the app, we charge a small fee:
- For payments made by ACH, Moxi charges a fee of 1.75% of the transaction amount.
- For payments made by debit or credit card, Moxi charges a fee of 3.75% of the transaction amount.
These fees include the costs of our payment provider, with the remainder going to Moxi so that we can continue to improve the app and provide you with a seamless payment experience.You can opt to have the payer (i.e., your client) pay the fee, or it can be borne by you and deducted from the payment amount upon receipt.
Does Moxi work outside of the USA?
Currently, Moxi is available only within the USA. You must have a US mobile number (+1 prefix) to sign up to Moxi. We'll send you a code to your mobile number to use for verification.
Is there an Android version of the app available?
Currently, Moxi is only available on the Apple App Store for iPhone users. However, we plan to launch the Moxi app for Android devices soon, stay tuned!
Why do you need to verify my identity?
Moxi uses payment processor Stripe, which requires verifying the identity of our users to comply with U.S. federal “Know Your Customer” requirements to assist in the prevention of money laundering activities and protect you from fraud. When signing up for Moxi, we ask you to provide us with a photo of your valid state driver’s license or ID card, both front and back.
To ensure a smooth verification process and prevent delays in payment processing, please complete the required information accurately and confirm that your details match your ID, including address.
I've forgotten my password or username, what do I do?
You can reset your password from the sign-in screen on the app. Just tap on the link "Help me sign in" and follow the steps to reset your password. For security purposes, we will ask you to enter your mobile number and send you a code to verify.
If you have forgotten your username, please
reach out to us for help retrieving it.
Making and receiving payments
Are fees charged if I don't receive a payment?
Fees are only charged if you receive or send a payment through Moxi. If your payment request does not get paid, no fees will be charged.
How does the recipient pay me?
Once you send a payment request (by tapping on the "Get paid" button on the dashboard), the recipient will receive a message either via email or SMS, depending on your preferred method of communicating with the recipient. The message they receive will include payment details, access to download an invoice generated, and a link to make a payment.
Payment is made using secure payment processor Stripe, via ACH or debit/credit card. We also offer Apple Pay as a payment method. If the recipient is a Moxi user, they can pay your request within the Moxi app. The recipient can also pay via our secure web experience, even if they are not a Moxi user.
Can I edit or cancel a payment request?
To edit or cancel a request, tap on the transaction item on the dashboard to view more details. On the details screen, tap on "Edit" to amend the request, or "Cancel" to cancel the request which will notify the recipient.
